The law teaches us about what sin is. No one has ever obeyed the entire Ten Commandments!  We are not saved by works, (Observing) the Ten Commandments.

We are only saved by grace, FAITH in our Lord Jesus Christ!  Only the Righteous live by Faith and only those who does so are saved!

So does this mean the law is abolished?  No! As Jesus said he did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill the Law (Love)!  Which the Law is about Loving God and our Neighbor!

It is not about useless manmade rules!

Are we allowed to commit adultery, covet, bear false witness or have idols in our lives???  OF COURSE NOT!  So Jesus teachings up held the law, not abolished it!  As Paul said; we do not have a license to sin.  No! God forbid!

About Loving God and Our Neighbor!  If we love God (1st Commandment) then we will not have other idols in our lives for example.  And if we love our neighbor (2nd Commandment) we will not bear false witness against him, or covet his property or wife for an example!

There are so many Christians, and even pastors that thinks we can ignore the Ten Commandments and not have to obey them or learn from them.

And yet the first 4 of the commandments teaches us about how to love God, to which is the First of the Two Greatest Commandments that Jesus commands us to obey that is the "Law" located in Matthew 22:37-38.

And then we have the other 6 commandments that teaches us how to love our neighbor to which is the second greatest commandment of the "Law" in Matthew 22:39.

So my friend Jesus also goes on with the following about the "Law" The Commandments;

Matthew 5:19Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
